Gérard a une maison provençale sur la côte varoise, il démontre qu'il n'est pas nécessaire d'aller à l'autre bout du monde pour réussir un échange.
Pas encore familiarisé au système « trocmaison/homexchange », nous avons vécu un premier échange avec une famille alsacienne très fructueux. La réactivité et la fiabilité du site démontrent une maîtrise parfaite de ce type de prestation et le retour d’expérience des utilisateurs favorise cette position.
Notre échange de maison s’est fait sans ambiguïté, notre correspondant avait bien préparé le terrain et sur ses conseils et son expérience, nous avons pu organiser notre départ et la réception de nos invités de façon optimale. Quelques échanges de courriers (Email) et un ou deux coups de téléphone nous ont permis d’être sur la même longueur d’ondes en toute sympathie. Bravo à Trocmaison, je souhaite que tous les utilisateurs du site conservent une attitude aussi honnête et conviviale que notre accueillant alsacien.
Isabelle Habite Nyon, en Suisse, elle nous raconte ici sa découverte de l'échange au cours d'un simple week end à Paris.
J'avais décidé offrir à mes enfants et à mon époux un cadeau d'anniversaire particulier en février cette année: un spectacle auquel ils rêvaient, un dîner hors norme le tout pendant un week end surprise à Paris.
J'avais déjà réservé des chambres dans un charmant hôtel mais en naviguant dans les 200 offres les plus récentes à la recherche d'un échange pour l'été prochain, une photo m'a accroché le regard, la lecture de l'annonce et les photos supplémentaires on accroché mon coeur et j'ai décidé de tenter ma chance en proposant un échange de week end aux membres parisiens.
Nous avons eu beaucoup de chance, nos correspondants ont trouvé l idée amusante et en ont profité pour venir skier en Suisse. Nous avons donc eu le grand plaisir de séjourner dans le 9ème arrondissement, dans un grand et bel appartement plein de charme et cerise sur le gâteau : à 10 minutes à pied des 2 spectacles réservés !!
La famille qui a séjourné chez nous a été parfaitement respectueuse de notre intérieur comme nous l'avons été du leur. Nous étions les uns et les autres des débutants un peu craintifs (moi peut être plus que d'autres, je le reconnais je suis une maniaque de l'ordre et de la propreté et je tiens beaucoup à mes objets précieux et anciens) mais nous étions les uns et les pleins d'enthousiasme pour ce type d'échange et cette première expérience a été un succès total.
J'espère que nous trouverons des partenaires aussi parfaits pour cet été, cette façon de partir en vacances est idéale: on vit dans une intimité chaleureuse qu'on ne peut en aucune façon trouver dans un hôtel ou un appartement de vacances, quel qu'en soit le nombre d'étoiles.
Dany habite à Cotignac, dans le Var. En quelques mois, il a trouvé les échanges recherchés en Australie.
Merci pour votre site et les échanges. Inscrit depuis quelques mois, nous avons déjà échangé notre appartement dans le Var avec Port Macquarie en Australie ainsi qu'avec des membres de Brisbane. Tout s'est très bien passé.
Jean-Paul habite près d'Aix-en-Provence. Il a déjà conclu plus de dix échanges. Il nous fait part ici de son dernier échange avec Lois et Bob en Floride.
Nous venons d'effectuer un échange avec des américains( Lois et Bob) habitant la floride à St Peterbourgh qui se trouve sur la cote ouest donc en bordure du golfe du mexique .Dés l'aéroport et malgré l'heure tardive (21h ) Lois et Bob nous attendaient . Nous avons passé une journée avec eux , qui a été l'occasion d'un échange d'informations réciproques sur le fonctionnement respectif de nos maisons et de l'automobile qui était incluse dans notre projet d'échange.Par la même occasion Bob et Lois nous faisaient découvrir l'environnement immédiat et les facilités offertes .Ils partaient dés le surlendemain pour la France via Paris et pour occuper notre domicile ( ma fille Sabine qui habite sur place étant leur relais pour toutes difficultés rencontrées).La maison que nous occupions et son environnement étaient à l'image de la Floride tels qu'on l' imagine en France à savoir quasi luxueux et paradisiaques! Nous avons naturellement apprécié les immenses plages de sable blond baignées par les eaux chaudes du golfe du Mexique et abritant une faune trés diverse tant dans l'eau ( dauphins , lamantins et ...alligators dans les lagunes) , que sur terre avec en particulier une variété considérable d'oiseaux. Des bicyclettes à notre disposition nous permettaient également de profiter des parcs et de ce calme environnement. Nous avons pu explorer à un coût dérisoire la région et pour notre retour une cousine de Bob nous ramenait à l'aéroport de Tampa .De leur coté Bob et Lois nous ont exprimés leur entière satisfaction quant à leur séjour en Provence. Nous pensons rester en contact avec eux. Donc cer échange, outre son agrément, nous aura permis d'avoir de nouveaux amis et d'avoir une perspective que nous pensons pas trop superficielle de ce pays .
Donc merci encore une fois à Trocmaison/Home Exchange qui offre des opportunités fantastiques de connaissance et de voyage sans cet environnement mercantile qui est trop souvent la rançon du voyageur.
Henri est retraité, il habite la Côte d'Azur, il nous fait part de sa première expérience.
Il ne m'a fallu que quelques jours pour trouver un échange avec le Quebec. Un couple retraité de notre âge avec lequel nous avons également échangé nos véhicules (moto et voiture). le contact s'est fait rapidement alors que nous avions le choix sur une vingtaine d'offres pour lesquels nous sommes désolés de n'avoir pas répondu par l'affirmative.La formule trocmaison est un merveilleux instrument de voyages à bon compte et un passeport pour enrichir ses connaissances et ses relations .
Lorenza est professeur retraitée. Elle habite avec son mari en Italie, dans les Dolomites, elle raconte ici son échange près de Londres.
Nous avons fait un excellent échange à Londres en novembre. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour chez Mark et Ginnys à Greenwich. Ils sont si gentils et amicaux. Ils nous ont donné toutes les informations nécessaires et nous ont même acheté des tickets de métro ! Leur maison est meublée avec goût, très confortable, dans une rue tranquille de Greeenwich. Nous avons pu ainsi profiter de la vie trépidante de Londre et du charme tranquille de la maison de Mark et Ginnys, reliée directement au centre de Londres.
Marén habite un appartement à Paris. Elle est surprise et ravie du nombre et de la qualité des propostions reçues.
Je suis vraiment touchée du nombre d'offres que j'ai reçu DES le lendemain de la mise en ligne de mon offre, c'est à dire dès le 1er janvier! C'est vraiment incroyable, je pourrais aller en Australie et dans de nombreux autres pays qui m'intéressent --- si ma petite maman allait bien. Mais ce n'est pas le cas et je me contente donc des offres en Europe.
J'ai déjà eu mon premier "demi-échange", c'est à dire un couple américo-italien qui est venu pendant 8 jours en févier et nous irons à la Toussaint en Ombrie. Et je pense que nous allons trouver assez facilement un échange de quelques jours pour prolonger à Rome.
Le second sera avec la Sardaigne où nous irons passer nos vacances de (après) Pâques et eux viendront chez moi en Juin.
Joan habite à Saint-Maurice de Beynost, à 15 km de Lyon. Elle nous a envoyé ce message 9 jours après son inscription.
J’étais un peu sceptique sur ma réussite à trouver un échange étant donné ma localisation (peu connue), c’est chose faite et en 9 jours . Nous allons partir mon mari, mes enfants et moi en Hollande à Haarlem pour deux semaines cet été. En tout cas merci, votre site est très bien fait, et les correspondants sont tout de suite amicaux, sans doute grâce au climat de confiance que vous avez su créer.

Thomas offre en échange un appartement au pied des pistes aux Arcs. Son témoignage illustre bien l'avantage d'échange une résidence secondaire.
Nous avons échangé deux fois notre appartement de la montagne, la première contre une maison en Italie au bord de la mer, le seconde contre une villa du midi de la France, au calme et en pleine forêt. L'échange n'était pas simultané : ainsi, nouveaux amis habitaient notre appartement en hiver pour faire du ski, et nous, nous profitions de leur soleil l'été.
Une formule tout à fait sympathique pour découvrir de nouveaux horizons, et où chacun respecte la maison de l'autre.
Marie est parisienne. C'est son premier échange. Elle nous a envoyé son témoignage le jour-même de son retour.
Nous sommes rentrés ce matin de New York où nous avons passé en famille une semaine extraordinaire dans un loft de tribeca très beau et très accueillant.
Nous sommes convenus de faire un échange non simultané. Ils viendront à Paris en Avril. Grâce à cela nous avons pu les rencontrer et ils nous ont reçus avec amitié et simplicité, nous nous sommes sentis chez nous. Ils nous ont indiqué les restos sympas, les galeries à visiter, où faire les courses. Nous avons dîné ensemble le premier soir et ils sont revenus avant notre départ, ce qui nous a donné l'occasion de passer une soirée avec eux.
Bref grâce à cet échange nous avons vécu comme des New-Yorkais et je suis sûre qu'ils vivront chez nous comme des parisiens. Nous n'avons qu'une envie c'est de recommencer l'expérience. Le principe permet grâce aux photos et à l'échange de mail de partir en toute sécurité sachant qu'il n'y a pas de risque d'erreur au moins sur l'appartement.
Gaëtan habite près de Montréal. Au cours de sa première année d'inscription, il a conclu deux échanges. Il est bien décidé à parler de l'échange de maisons à tous ses amis.
Nous sommes inscrits à votre service déchange de maison seulement depuis cette année, et avons déjà deux échanges à notre actif. Nous apprécions cette manière de voyager différente et nouvelle pour nous. Il faut dire que nous aimons voyager. Aussi, l'échange de maison nous donne une liberté qui est très appréciée lorsqu'on voyage en famille. En plus, nous nous faisons de nouveaux amis qui nous reçoivent avec attention et que nous reçevons avec la même attention. Les échanges sont sympathiques.

Cet été nous somme allés en Espagne, nous avons fait un echange non simultané et nous devrions recevoir les gens l'an prochain!! Nous étions dans une magnifique résidence à Marbella, magnifiques jardins, belle piscine et le soleil de l Andalousie!!
Cette année fut pour nous l'occasion de recevoir aussi en hospitalité et ensuite nous avons laissé nos hôtes dans notre maison pendant que je travaillais a l'étranger. Nous avons rencontré deux adorables couples du Nord des Etats-Unis et pendant tout un week end nous leur avons fait decouvrir notre mode de vie, notre région et les avons aiguillé sur tout ce qu il y avait de formidable à découvrir dans notre région tant d'un point de vue culturel que gastronomique. Vous n'imaginez pas la joie qu'ils ont eu de dîner avec nous, de découvrir les vins de Bordeaux, la cuisine française et les bonnes crèpes bretonnes, les plages et la côte, les paysages de landes et les mutiples villes médiévales. Nous les avons conduit au marché dominical et là ce fut un enchantement. Ils decouvraient le plaisir de vivre de notre région, les fruits frais, les charcuteries, les légumes, les fleurs, le bon pain chaud du boulanger...quand on habite une grande ville amèricaine, découvrir ceci est tellement intéressant. Quand, en plus, on le découvre avec les yeux des résidents... C'est ça aussi les échanges de maison, la découverte des autres cultures, des autres modes de vie.
Suite à cela , nous les avons quitté et laissé dans notre maison. Ma femme de menage leur assurait un confort en plus , mais ça aussi ,c'est échanger un service et quelle joie de se dire que tout sera propre quand on partira et nous quand on reviendra... Nos amis ont visité la région mais n'ont pas eu le temps de tout découvrir bien sûr. Ce sont des gens formidables avec qui nous continuons de tisser des liens et qui nous ont fait leur promettre d' aller vite les voir prochainement.
Echanger sa maison peut parfois déboucher sur des amitiès internationales, maintenant nous avons plusieurs amis au Canada, aux Etats-Unis, en Italie, des gens formidables que nous n'aurions jamais connu sans Trocmaison ! Grâce aux échanges de maison l'amitié aussi devient universelle et de nos jours quoi de plus beau que de se faire confiance, d'accepter d'ouvrir sa maison à quelqu'un d'une autre culture que la sienne et de s'enrichir de sa présence !
Bien sûr certains échanges sont purement des échanges, on échange une fois et on sait très bien que ce sera tout, car on n'a pas forcément d'atomes crochus avec tout le monde. Mais on respecte cela aussi. Echanger c est un "contrat moral" mais qui va parfois plus loin qu un simple contrat , c'est une ouverture sur les autres qui devient parfois une franche amitié.
Nous sommes membres de Trocmaison / Home Exchange depuis quelques année maintenant et cest toujours un grand moment de bonheur que de découvrir notre nouveau lieu de villégiature... Vraiment c'est une belle aventure!

Fabienne et Joël habitent une maison près de Fréjus. Ils sont inscrits depuis un an, ils nous livrent leur première expérience.
Il est vrai que la base de l'échange est la confiance. Je crois qu'il ne faut pas hésiter à demander un maximum de détails tant sur la maison ou l'appartement dans son usage domestique mais également dans les us et coutumes de son environnement.
Nous avons rédigé un guide touristique dans la langue des personnes avec qui nous échangions (endroits à visiter, sports à pratiquer, événements culturels pendant la durée de l'échange, cartes routières avec itinéraires tracés en fonction des sites recommandés etc...) ainsi qu'un classeur où l'on peut retrouver tous les détails de la vie au quotidien (magasins, médecin, dépannage des appareils, utilisation des différents appareils : cuisine, hi-fi, télévision, câble, internet, adresse et téléphone d'un ami en cas de problème etc...)
Plus le dialogue est amical plus l'échange est bénéfique.
Nouvel adhérent, nous avons fait l'expérience d'un premier échange avec une famille américaine. Echange très positif.
Robert habite une villa au Québec, au bord d'une rivière, près d'un parc national. Il est membre de Trocmaison depuis un an et vient de renouveler son abonnement pour trois ans. Voici pourquoi:
Danielle, ma conjointe, et moi sommes inscrits à TrocMaison depuis un an. Nous avons effectues deux échanges en 2005; un avec Boston Mass. et un avec Bruxelles. Dans les deux cas nous avons vecus une expérience tres positive. Nous avons beaucoup aimé cette formule. Ca nous intriguait depuis longtemps et on a plongé finalement.
Pour 2006 nous venons de conclure un échange avec des membres de Provence et on est emballés.
J'avais exploré plusieurs sites avant de m'abonner à TrocMaison, mais j'ai choisi celui-ci pour les raisons suivantes:
1. c'est un site internationnal; il n'est pas limite a la francophonie ou a l'axe France - Quebec. On adore la France et on y va régulierement mais nous voulions aussi avoir l'oportunite de visiter d'autres pays
2. c'est un site axé sur l'echange avant tout. Certains autres sites sont plus dediés a la location.
Nous avons pris un premier abonnement de un an, pour essayer. Nous venons de le renouveler pour trois annees.
Les autres qualites de TrocMaison que nous avons découvertes depuis que nous sommes membres:
3. la grande simplicité d'utilisation. C'est vraiment facile de monter et de modifier son dossier, ses photos, etc...Le fonctionnement du système pour envoyer et recevoir des propositions est aussi d'une grande simplicité. On ne s'accroche pas dans la technique et on peut se concentrer sur notre projet de voyage et nos échanges avec les membres.
4. la grande qualité des offres, ainsi que la qualité des personnes et des échanges. Nous avons reçu beaucoup de propositions de partout dans le monde et les échanges par courriel sont très cordiaux, même lorsqu'on doit refuser un échange. On a vraiment l'impression de faire partie d'un village planétaire. C'est un èlèment important pour renforcer la confiance nécessaire pour une experience d'èchange.
5. L'encadrement donné par le personnel de TrocMaison est efficace et amical; c'est aussi un facteur de confiance important.
En conclusion, notre seul regret est de ne pas avoir connu ce site plus tot.

Dans quelques minutes je serai fixée. Impossible de reculer, demain matin, mon fils et moi nous envolons pour NewYork.
La personne en question est un Américain totalement conquis à cette technique d'hébergement et qui a déjà résidé à Paris et en Italie grâce à Trocmaison / Home Exchange.
Mes craintes s'estompent et devant un solide petit déjeuner je lui donne les noms des amis à contacter en cas d'urgence, je lui remets de la doc. sur la région ainsi que le résumé des opérations essentielles à accomplir pour assurer le bon fonctionnement de ma maison.
Arrivés à New York, nous trouvons l'appartement tel qu'il nous avait été décrit par son propriétaire. Nous sommes effectivement dans un formidable quartier.
Nous avons passé trois semaines fantastiques.
A mon retour, une bouteille de champagne nous attendait dans le réfrigérateur et des roses avaient été disposées dans des vases.
Je vous laisse seuls juges. Personnellement, je repropose ma maison dès aujourd'hui.

Donc nous avons fait de nombreux échanges, plus de 15 si ma mémoire est juste.
Je n'imagine pas partir à l'étranger autrement. Pour les USA c'est l'idéal les maisons sont toujours parfaites et ils vous laissent au moins une voiture, j'insiste pour avoir la plus petite car je n'aime pas conduire les immenses paquebots.
Je voudrais vous parler d'un échange fabuleux : une villa à Asti en Californie à 100 km environ de San franscisco
Nous avons passé une semaine merveilleuse au bord de la piscine et le soir les gens avaient un "home theater" un grand écran plat très rare à l'époque et la trilogie de Star War
Nous avions mis en place un rituel première partie du film puis pose pour le dîner plongeon dans la piscine puis la fin du film
La maison était superbe décorée avec beaucoup de goût
Comme le propriétaire était psychologue comme moi nous avons discuté " travail" avec les différences entre les deux pratiques dans deux pays et il nous a donné aussi ses meilleures adresses de restaurants dans la Sonoma Valley et aussi à San Francisco
Ensuite nous sommes alles au Québec à Montréal chez Pierre et Pierrette que nous continuons de voir quand ils viennent en France Ils ont un appartement à Montréal mais surtout une maison en rondins sur le lac de la Conception dans les montagnes.
Il y a deux ans nous avons fait un échange pour Paques entre Paris et l'Ariège avec une famille américaine qui est venue s'installer en Ariège
Yves n'aurait pas imaginé que son appartement de Courbevoie dans la banlieue parisienne lui permette de passer de superbes vacances en Australie pour le prix du billet d'avion, et pourtant:
La seule chose que je puisse vous dire c'est que nous sommes litteralement enchanteé par notre echange Courbevoie/Australie et que grâce à votre site nous avons rencontré des gens charmants avec lesquels nous avons echangé nos maisons repectives sans rencontrer le moindre problème .
Martine habite une vieille maison pleine de charme à Enghein, dans la banlieue parisienne. Son ouverture au monde lui a apporté un bel enrichissement personnel:
Juste pour vous dire que le système d'échange à transformé notre façon d'envisager les vacances. Depuis que nous le pratiquons, nous nous sommes fait de nombreux amis partout dans le monde.
Certains de ces amis, lors de leur passage en France ne manquent pas de nous rendre visite.
C'est la meilleure façon de connaître un pays et ses habitants.
A chaque échange nous avons eu à faire à des personnes exceptionnelles qui ont l'esprit assez ouvert pour prêter leur maison à des inconnus, nous n'avons jamais été déçus.
Mag habite une maison près de Clermont Ferrand, des américains ont apprécié leurs vacances au centre de la France. Mag est très satisfaite:
J'ai vécu un échange de maisons et véhicules avec des américains cet été qui a été très agréable et positif. Je suis allée chez eux en Virginie (Richmond) pendant trois semaines alors qu'ils étaient chez moi en Auvergne. Je renouvellerai l'expérience ! En plus d'une maison pour de supers vacances j'ai gagné des amis supplémentaires...
Yves est parisien. Son expérience montre que l'échange est vraiment sans frontières:
J'ai pu depuis mon inscription goûter les plaisirs d'une formule pleine de découverte et d'échanges fructueux : en Italie avec des américains, à Bruxelles avec des suédois et à Montréal avec un irlandais...échange culturel garanti !!!
Tous s'est toujours bien passé, la confiance s'est instaurée au fur et à mesure des mails et de la documentation échangés.
L'échange d'appartement est une ouverture sur le monde même s'il se fait à courte distance. Ce qui est particulièrement apprécié, c'est l'effort que fait chacun pour que l'autre se sente accueilli, guidé,... bref bienvenu dans sa maison et son environnement de vacances.
Marc habite Genève. Depuis son premier échange, qu il décrit ici, il est déjà reparti plusieurs fois:
Grâce à Trocmaison, nous avons découvert New Orleans et la Louisiane. Nous avons échangé notre appartement de Genève contre un appartement à Royal Street, au coeur du French Quarter, à deux pas de l'allée des Pirates où William Faulkner avait sa chambre. Une découverte de la capitale du jazz et du monde créole presque en résidents. Nous avons fait nos courses au French Market, nous avons flâné le long du Mississipi pour prendre le bateau à aubes (salut Mark Twain !), nous avons fait la queue pour écouter les vieux bluesmen à Preservation Hall, nous avons pique-niqué dans le parc Louis Armstrong et nous avons visité le cimetière St. Louis avec la tombe de la reine du vaudou(souvenez-vous du film Easy Rider !) Et, tard dans la nuit, en rentrant dans "notre" appartement, nous avons pensé : c'est quand même autre chose que d'être à l'hôtel.
Beatrix habite en Provence. Elle échange sa charmante maison plusieurs fois par an. Voici le récit de l'une de ses expériences :
Nous nous sommes inscrits tardivement avec l'envie d'aller à Londres 15 jours env. et nous avons été contactés par Sarah qui vit dans un des plus beau quartier de Londres.
C'est un échange non synchronisé car Sarah a eu entre temps une invitation pour la Grèce (elle est écrivain ).
Nous aurons le plaisir de l'accueillir dans notre chambre d'amis et/ou de lui prêter notre maison dès que le succès de son dernier livre lui donnera un peu de repos.
Elle nous a mis à disposition son charmant appartement avec jardin Anglais en Rch d'une belle maison victorienne du quartier de Richmond en bordure de la Tamise et à proximité du Parc de Richmond . Nous avons pu ainsi visiter Londres en métro ( la circulation en voiture et le stationnement sont impossibles à LONDRES) avec un budget confortable car sans coût d'hébergement !
A noter qu'aucune location ou hôtel n'aurait pu nous donner cette qualité d'hébergement !
Nous avons pris soin de son chat et de ses plantes.
Notre présence était aussi une sécurité pour Sarah, car les maisons inoccupées attirent les voleurs... à Londres aussi!
Elle était là pour nous accueillir et elle nous a fait la surprise de nous offrir à notre arrivée, des places pour l'évènement théatrale de l'été à Londres: Macbeth au Global Shakespeare Theatre de Londres. La mise en scène est tellement vivante, le lieu tellement hors du commun que mon fils Hugues, 7 ans, c'est "régaler" aussi, comme nous disons en Provence. C'est inoubliable !

Dès nos premiers échanges de mails, j'ai tout de suite été trés à l'aise avec elle. Le style de nos échanges a été simple et spontané avec beaucoup d'humour.
Au delà de notre lieu d'habitation, la Provence, les photos de notre maison et le descriptif détaillé en 2 versions anglais et français ont été déterminants.
A notre retour, un adorable mail de Sarah nous attendait. Elle a hâte de venir chez nous et elle nous invite à revenir chez elle quand nous le voulons.

Je tiens à remercier la trés efficace et sympatique équipe de TROCMAISON pour son aide et ses conseils personnalisés qui ont été déterminants, car notre inscription "à la dernière minute" avec l'envie d'aller à Londres nécessitait une présentation efficace, la plupart des membres ayant déjà conclus leurs échanges pour le mois d'août.

Nous rentrons de notre huitième échange de maisons, une huitième réussite. Après la Californie, Paris, Sydney et Port Douglas en Australie, Cape Cod dans le Massachussets et New York, le Parc Kruger en Afrique du Sud et l'île de Bonaire dans les Antilles Néerlandaises, nous sommes convaincus d'avoir trouver un moyen extraordinaire de parcourir le monde avec nos quatre enfants.
D'abord, il y a le contact par email où se noue une relation amicale et non superficielle comme on pourraît le croire, indispensable au bon déroulement de l'échange qui ne repose sur aucune garantie si ce n'est une confiance mutuelle.
Et puis il y a le contact sur place avec le voisinage, la famille parfois, bref une belle aventure huamine qui peut même perdurer avec le temps. L'échange de maison permet enfin et je dirai même, surtout, de s'intégrer facilement au pays visité, de ne pas se sentir trop touriste, isolé dans un hôtel, on se sent beaucoup plus proche des "locaux" en fréquentant leurs supermarchés, leurs restaurants préfèrés voire leur club de sport. Et lorsque vous voyagez avec votre tribu surtout avec de jeunes enfants, ce qui était le cas au début de nos échanges, le confort d'une maison avec ses jeux, ses vidéos et ses livres et la possibilité de prendre ses repas à son rythme à la maison se révèlent un plus par rapport à un hôtel.
Chaque échange a son originalité. Nous avons fait des échanges simultanés, où nous croisions nos "échangeurs" à l'aller ou au retour pour 1 jour ou 2, des échanges non simultanés avec échange d'hospitalité en retour puisqu'il s'agit de notre résidence principale, expérience humaine très enrichissante, nous avons même fait un échange avec nos enfants : nous avons reçu une jeune américaine pendant un mois et notre fille est parti un mois chez eux, nous sommes restés en contact avec cette famille.
Le fait d'être inscrit auprès d'un organisme tel HomeExchange ou Trocmaison donne plus de chance de trouver l'échange qui convient puisqu'il permet d'être contacté: Sur nos huit échanges cinq se sont concrétisés après avoir été contactés par les familles.
Bien sûr, on laisse sa maison à des étrangers et on n'échappe pas aux quelques secondes d'angoisse quand on ouvre la porte à son retour mais nous avons toujours retrouvé notre maison dans l'état où nous l'avions laissé, les seuls petis déboires que nous avons connus furent plutôt dus à un manque de mise au point au départ. Nos New Yorkais nous ont laissé la maison sans y avoir fait le ménage persuadés que nous avions une femme de ménage qui viendrait après leur départ, j'avais oublié de préciser que nous n'en n'avions pas. Une facture d'internet un peu salée fut due au fait que nos Australiens étaient persuadés que nous avions une connection illimitée, j'avais aussi oublié de préciser que nous n'avions qu'un abonnement de quelques heures. De notre côté nous avons perdu un skate board, que nous avons remboursé à notre retour. De toutes manières, les assurances multirisque-habitation couvrent la plupart des dégâts que pourraient causer des étrangers vivant chez vous, (il en est de même avec les véhicules), il suffit de le signaler à votre assurance qui est plutôt soulagée de savoir votre maison occupée pendant votre absence.
Nous sommes en préparation de notre prochain échange, l'Amérique Centrale ou du Sud nous tente assez, c'est parti pour de nouvelles aventures !

We have had excellent luck in exchanging our luxury condominium in the New Orleans French Quarter. Our new friends have exchanged their properties in New York, Florida, California, France and we are working on another France trip as well as one to London. This is a great way to travel and we love the chance to play host for our guests.
Our property is a second home so we have the luck of being very flexible about dates and we seldom exchange for the same dates. This enables us to, whenever possible, pick up our exchange partners at the airport in New Orleans. Because we are in the French Quarter, our guests rarely rent a car and instead walk around town. Most of our exchanges have been similar situations where they have another home also.
This is a great way to travel.

"I experienced my first home exchange this past summer. I had the good fortune to exchange with a retired Latin teacher from Milan, Italy. Being a Latin and French teacher myself, I soon discovered I had made a new friend. Emilio made my initiation to his city a delight. He graciously helped me get oriented to his city and neighborhood before leaving for his stay in my home in North Carolina. I stayed in Milan for six weeks, studying the language, touring and making new friends. I even made some friends who are members of an Italian bluegrass band. Since I also play in a small bluegrass band, music brought us together for good times and camaraderie. On his end, my guest/host Emilio loved North Carolina. The first day he was in my home, I received an email which stated: "You don't live in a city; you live in a park." We continue to correspond, and my friend Ed and I received a marvelous Christmas cake and wine from Emilio for the holiday celebration. This has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
